Much Needed Media Blackout Monday, Feb 1 2010

Well not really a Media Blackout as I watched tv most of the afternoon…. but I didn’t pick up my Crackberry once! I was needing to just ignore my responsibilities and the Rogue madness as of late and decided a full day without my connection to the outside world would be good. And you know what?? It was so nice to not have my phone go off every 5 minutes. It’s been such a crazy time, with the Rogue gearing up (well I’ve been all Rogue all the time for months now) and the Mardi Gras parade coming up, Super Bowl parties and the like! Oy Vey!

The Rogue Map is to the printer, I need to jump on the hospitality things and I’ve scheduled multiple meeting for the upcoming Festival. Performers are getting ready and settling down…. getting a 3rd venue secured took a TON of stress off! I have multiple meetings this week, a presentation to prepare for next week and little tasks to do in order to better prep everything.

I think I’ve sent out hundreds of emails today and am continuing the massive question and answer time period for those that don’t know Rogue. Oh yeah, I also need to write a 1500 word article for the Undercurrent…. ok, yeah I need to get in gear. Thank goodness for my one day and I’ll look forward to another one of those after March 15th.

By the Way… Tuesday, Apr 7 2009

This is me:rogueparty

Photo taken by Kirt Fitzpatrick at the Rogue Festival closing bash. 🙂

Yeah… can you tell I don’t have anything really to write about?? LOL…

Edit: Silly me… I almost forgot! It’s OPENING DAY!!!!!!! GO GIANTS!!!

Long live TIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phew… Monday, Mar 9 2009

Well, it’s done.

Almost done actually… we still need to debrief. An important aspect of the Festival where the managers get together say “Here’s a problem I encountered and here’s a suggested solution” so we can continue to grow and make the Festival better each year.

This year was a unique year for me, unlike any Rogue Festivals before. I’m not sure if that’s because I tool on so much, or if I know it’s my last year of wearing multiple hats or if I was just wanting to jump ahead and get on to next year’s Jayne & Renee show… I don’t know.

Reflections? Oh I have a great many. I saw problems and I am buzzing with possible solutions but… I have to wait for my co-horts to be ready to hear what I might suggest so we can discuss and either put it in or put it in the trash. I am very opinionated about some things that happened this year and I truly feel that there’s an appropriate time and place for those things… sharing it with you in the blogging community is not the best place. So… as new things come up I’ll write more, but until then, it’s the Thank yous:

Halo: you are my calm and balance and you truly helped me this year maintain a do-able stress level. I know that I couldn’t have been as calm as I was without you!

Charlie: You kick ass chica!!! Thank you for all your work and help! You were so amazing in keeping the venue together when I had to work!

APJ: I love you!

The managers: Thank you for sticking with it and working on making this year one of the best yet!

The performers: I know I didn’t get to see a lot of your shows, but thank you for your art. It truly makes the Festival better!

The audience: YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

Da Count – A Successful Year Friday, Mar 6 2009

dacountNo, the year isn’t done yet, the Rogue still has tonight and tomorrow of shows… but I’m calling it now. The Rogue festival 2009 is a success! we have had so many audience members and wonderful performances and it’s truly been amazing. I was about to call the year a success when we opened and Marcel told me that we were only in Day one and to not jump ahead of myself. Am I doing that now? Maybe… but I’m still saying it.

Sure there were bumps in the road, things we definitely need to do differently next year, but that’s the joys of it all.

So, as my mind simply is not wanting to work, I’ll leave it at that. I’ll be back sometime next week with reflections and a post-Rogue Debriefing.

Happy Rogue!

First Weekend of Rogue Monday, Mar 2 2009

Friday: 18 hours of work

Saturday: 14 hours of work

Sunday: 11 hours of work

Total: 43 hours of work that was somehow related to Rogue.

I’ll be back tomorrow with more enlightened statements. 🙂

Tonight’s the Night! Thursday, Feb 26 2009

20092From 5-8 there will be performer teaser performances going on at Ashtree Studios and Veni Vidi Vici’s. Then, at 8:30 pm until closing we’ll be kicking off the Rogue 2009 at Full Circle Brewery.

Tons of fun and it’s going to be really good to see some of the out of town performers again! Yay!

See you out and about tonight!!!

Zapp’s Was a Blast! Wednesday, Feb 25 2009

Last night we let our hair down, danced and laughed while at Zapp’s Park! It was a great de-stressor for myself and those that came out to hang. It was fun and we had a good time! We celebrated Kick Ass Kate’s birthday, drank the Tattooed Lady martinis and danced to music from the 70’s to the present! Hahahaha!!

Last year was the first time we had a pre-Rogue gathering and the effects of it were so potent it become obvious to me that we needed to have another one this year. It was such a nice breath of non-Rogue and really boosted the spirits of those who let the party have such effect.

I stayed for about 3 hours and it really was a boost to my energy reserves. I was able to come in this morning and look at what I needed to accomplish clearly and get to work. I’m almost done and fully prepared for this thang to go off!

Woot! 😀

Here’s the up coming activities:

Thursday 2/26: RogueHop 5-8 at Ashtree Studios & Veni Vidi Vici’s, 8:30 – close Kick Off Party at Full Circle Brewery.

Saturday 3/7: Rogue, 10 pm ONE BIG ROGUE PARTY with Trey Tosh

So as you can see… my next two weeks are jammed packed! ::stay upright, stay upright, stay upright:: It’s the mantra!

Pre-Rogue Party, RogueHop & THE ROGUE Tuesday, Feb 24 2009

Yup, that’s right… life has become all Rogue all the time. We’re all scrambling to make sure everything goes off without a hitch (if it can be helped) and support those artists that are participating this year. Taking on the Asst. Co-Producer job has really upped my learning curve and I think I’m running smoothly, I couldn’t be as calm as I am right now if it weren’t for Halo and his amazing ability to know what I need.

Parties!!!!! Woot!

Pre-Rogue Party TONIGHT at Zapp’s Park starting at 7 pm. We are letting our hair down and really taking a night off from the Rogue so we can refocus on what our “To Do” Lists look like. Kevin and Pete are creating a brand new cocktail for the occation, the “Tattooed Lady” and there will be drink specials on well drinks and draft beer!

RogueHop!!! This Thursday we are having RogueHop. From 5-8 there will be teaser performances at Ashtree Studios and Veni Vidi Vici’s, you can also grab a look see at the amazing art that is hung this year! From 8:30 – whenever they kick us out, we’ll be at Full Circle Brewery for the BIG ROGUE KICK OFF PARTY!

(are you sensing the theme of the Rogue, yeah we like to throw parties!)

And then it’s ROGUE time! 😀

Check out the website for information and also, one of our major media sponsors, the BeeHive for reviews!

There are parties being thrown Feb 27th and Feb 28th and March 6th and March 7th… check back here for more info on our LATE NIGHT ROGUE parties!

Wednesday: Hump Day Wednesday, Dec 17 2008

and the day before an important doctors appointment. Ugh. Little C, the bartending goddess, has offered to be there for me and wait with me at the doctor’s office… a tedious task at best but I love her for it! And Halo is eagerly anticipating the news and to see how I’m doing afterwards. All will be well… it’s just getting through it that’s the bear.

APJ and I talked to the tattoo artist that will be submitting his artwork for the muse for the Rogue Festival 2009. I can’t say enough how excited I am to have this particular piece of work for the muse. It’s really beautiful and completely embodies the Rogue (well in my mind at least). We will be unveiling it as soon as possible. Mike Oz from the Fresno BeeHive will have the exclusive, so look here for the annoucement and link!

Time chose the Person of the Year… are you surprised?? I’m not.

Change is good.

I’m trying to get back to blogging once a day. It’s a good habit to get back into, gets the creative juices flowing and I think it’s going to serve as a good “how to” with my transition in the Rogue. You kinda get an insiders perspective to the Festival. So yeah, that’s what I’ve been thinking about.

Happy Birfday to my Jelly Bear!!! I’ll see you on the 23rd! Yipee!!!

Thank you’s: to my friends on Facebook that provided some much needed light hearted, humorous jabbing yesterday afternoon… I really needed the laugh and the break from stress. To APJ for driving last night to Parlier to meet the Muse artist… you are a wonderful partner in crime! To Halo for being the wonderful man that I love! ❤

We cooked… Tuesday, Dec 16 2008

…and then we ate and it was delicious! Halo and I have decided to start cooking dinner together. I know it’s kinda a silly thing but in the long run it’s really cool for multiple reasons. I’ve been all over a recipe website looking for meals to make. The site is cool because you can look at recipes and read reviews (usually the reviews are different variations others have made to the recipe that they liked… all very informative). You can create your own recipe box and save the ones you like and the site will even build your shopping list! How cool is that??

Last night Halo and I made this. It was really yummy! I’m already  planning on making it again and adding variations to it. It’s almost a ravioli lasagna. I want to play with the sauce and change up the ravioli… little twists that’ll make the dish something to Halo’s and my taste.

I am becoming Martha…. HA! Not really but it’s cool to be back in the kitchen. 🙂

It’s been really cold here… I mean COLD compared to California standards. We’re supposed to get SNOW! Here in the valley where we got up to 115 degrees last summer! Grrr…. cold is not comfortable and of course we don’t have the proper attire to combat the cold! BRRRBRRRRBRRRRBRRRR!!!

Tonight APJ and I are going to Parlier to take a picture of the MUSE for the Rogue Festival. I”m really excited about the MUSE this year and I can’t wait to unveil it. Look for the big unveiling to happen this week (hopefully) and I’ll be very interested in hearing your feedback! I’m really hoping it is received well… I love the piece and I can’t wait to show everyone!

Well, that’s all for me for now. I’ll try to post more recipes as Halo and I try them. Yum!
