I’ve been Blogrolled! Tuesday, Mar 17 2009

LOL… is that something like Rick-Rolled??? Ok… check out the new digs over HERE and see what the big deal is.

Pecha Kucha was a success last night! The bar was rockin, the presenters were talking about very interesting topics, the room was Twittering, yeah all in all it was a very interesting evening! Look out for the next Pecha Kucha Night June 8th!

Also, I’ve finished reading The Watchmen and now it’s time to go see the movie and compare. I’ll be blogging about it once I’ve convinced Halo to come see a movie with me!

:)

The next project to read?? Atonement

  atonement

This should be interesting because I’ve seen the movie already. So maybe it’s a little backwards, but I thin kit’ll be fun to see how the books compares to the movie which I expected to cry at and came away dry eyed.

Phew! And the Fat Lady hasn’t even Sang Yet! Tuesday, Mar 3 2009

r1After a night of relaxation and nothing Rogue I can actually think about this last weekend and make reflections.

I love the Rogue. I always forget the feeling that the Rogue brings. Whenever I see or am a part of a standing ovation, I kinda tear up a little. Yeah yeah… I’m a softie. I love the out of town performers that come in, those I know from previous years and those I get to meet this year. I can’t wait to be able to sit and hang out and just relax with them. I’m spoiled because I’ve gotten to talk with them since October so when we see each other in person it’s like we’ve been neighbors for months!

The audiences have been great this year. There’s been more sell out shows than the first weekend last year and the audiences can’t stop gushing about the shows they are seeing when walking to another show! It’s SO wonderful!

I am tired. I am stressed out. I am a worry bug. But the Rogue is happening and everything is moving forward. This is a good thing. :)

I can say that without a doubt I am very much so looking forward to dropping my titles this year and just focusing on Producing the Festival with APJ. It will be nice to just have to carry that one thing versus the many ones I have this year. Charlie, Steve and Jesus have been Awesome! I love them dearly and I appreciate the work they are willing to put into the Festival and particularly Starline. Halo is a trooper, being supportive when I just look at him wanting to scream in stressful frustration. He looks at me and tells me to handle it and it gets me in “game face” mode. he’s even enjoying the shows he’s seeing! We’re going to see shows together tomorrow and Thursday and then it’s back to game time on Friday!

Woot!

What’s new with you??

Sometimes… Thursday, Feb 19 2009

…when I get asked to cover a bar-tending shift at the Starline for a show, it’s a really really good show. It’s awesome when it’s a good show because it makes the early am clock out time and early am alarm clock buzz not so horrid. Such was the case last night. The show was one of a kind in Fresno, a Producer’s Battle. I’ve never heard of this kind of show, but the premise is pretty eff-ing cool.

FaShawn, local rapper gone big, was the host and about 15 producers got up and battled with beats they have put together. There were 5 rounds and the 3 judges decided who won the battle and went to the next round. I ran into an old friend from high school and it was cool to hear his beats. They killed! The crowd was unusual for the normal run of the mill at Starline, it’s rare to have a hip hop show in Tower. But this crowd was awesome. In fact the fights that broke out last night ended up being at another venue. We had no problems with the crowd enticed by the Producer’s Battle. And this is not unusual for this producer (I foret his name) but he brought in Planet Asia and DJ Muggs and the crowd was similar. Hip hop crowds I’ve encountered are there to listen to the music and support their boyz… not cause ruckus. I’ve got nothing but respect for that.

The bar did well, there was a lot of free-styling going on, FaShawn performed some, Chuck Dimes performed, 2 guys got up and totally killed it spinnin… I don’t know their names but Fan-Eff-Ing-Tastic! I finally got to meet Roque in person, a local blogger and fellow BeeHive commenter.

All in all it was a fantastic evening!

Oh, word to the wise, be careful opening a bottle of Hennessy VSOP, the foil is sharp and it SUCKS having a paper cut sized cut on your fingertip while dealing with alcohol and limes/lemons all night. Ouch!

I’ve been a bad blogger Wednesday, Feb 18 2009

I’ve been too busy to submit anything thoughtful to my wordpress, so I’ve refrained. It’s not that I’m not working, I’m busy bee at the Rogue (which opens in 8 days), and it seems that’s all I can talk about.

Life is good otherwise. Life? What life do I have outside the Rogue?? LOL… Halo is good, I’m truckin along, Dr. Dave is as energetic as ever… all is well.

Now if only I can stay upright through March 8th I’ll be a happy camper!

Busy Bee!!! Thursday, Feb 12 2009

The Rogue Festival is all consuming right now.

Here’s the Banner page, steal on and post it EVERYWHERE!!!

I’ll be in and out but stop by, say hi and please check to see if I’m still sane… I might be in c corner curled up in a ball soon. :P
